The Woodenboat Forum Challenge got me thinking...

I posed this question late last summer- too late to do much with the idea. Would there be any interest in a small boat gathering in the lakes region here in Maine?

I live on Little Sebago Lake. There is that option. Sebago lake is only a couple miles away, and Long Lake is a few miles north. What I was thinking is a gathering of WBF forumites and their small boats for a day of sailing, rowing, etc on one of the nearby lakes w/ a picnic-BBQ type thing followed by an EBS...

Is there any interest in such a thing? If so, let me know, and I will se if I can arrange such a thing and schedule a date. Location would probably be dependant on fleet size.

I would be interested, when my boat is complete (planned for May/June) - it will spend most of its time at Thompson lake (20 minutes away or so..).

However - I don't know if I qualify as a small boat. ;)

Let's plan it around some day when 400hp ego boats with idiots at the helm aren't on the lakes.

Bill,
The Maine Chapter of the Traditional Small Craft Association does this very thing; although I don't know how much elbow bending occurs. I have, with the best intentions, been unable to attend one of their events. Maybe this year.

There are forum members who are also TSCA members, maybe they will post with a schedule.

In the meantime, lets plan a EBS at your place! :)

I've never heard of a TSCA event in the Portland area but I'm game if they have one. :)

I'm in Bill. I could bring the 14' John Gardner Skiff and the Elf.

I admit my ignorance in saying that I don't know what an EBS is, but I am interested in a small boat gathering. I'll bring my 13' Jimmy Skiff.

EBS= Elbow Bending Symposium: Often a potluck meal with drinks somewhere public, private or both. Usually tall tales, outright lies and stories are required and scoffed at. Always fun.

Are any of you planning to participate in the WoodenBoat Small Reach Regatta this year? I'd like to, but my boat is a litlle too small to qualify for the criteria, so I am looking for a crew position.

I don't have a small boat. Sometimes I wish I did. However, I plan to be a bystander on Airlie if ya need a place to watch the fun from.

I was part of last year's SRR, a great time. I sent in an application for this year's event, I don't know if they are giving less preference to last year's attendees or not, but I hope to get in. I'd love to attend your smaller reach regatta, and EBS, with the Penob. 17 or the Welsford Pathfinder, if she's done in time.
