Hello,
My name is Tommy Chiffriller and I love to sail and seem to spend all of my time thinking about it. I have been trying to find a boat to crew on this summer but i can't seem to find anyone that needs a crew. I was wondering if there was anyone who needed a crew on any sailing venture this summer?

thanks,
tommy

Hello again!
Check with any of your local yacht or sailing clubs. They almost invariably have regular races throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall (Weds and Sundays, typically) and crew (regular or impromptu) is almost always needed by somebody - especially with keelboat racing. No membership required!
You can often post your availability on the club's website or bulletin board, or you can just show up on race night. I've done this at many yacht clubs in a number of different countries, and have always gotten a ride. It's easy to get a regular position, too, though you might want to shop around for a skipper who doesn't yell . . . .
Once you get a foot in the door, others will be happy to have you sail with them too, and there are many options other than the Wed night series.
You might check out those clubs for their youth racing programs, too.

If you want some tall ship experience, there are several oportunities. Most summers the Kalmar Nyckel gets a couple of volunteers who stick with it through most of the season. Check with the organizations down your way -- each one has its own rules, etc. (Jamestown for example.)
