There is an Electric motor repair shoip I like. In the past they've located an odd motor for me.

I took my old Craftsman 3/4hp motor in for repair after it blew a circuit sawing Maple, then sounded weird after resetting the breaker, confident that it wouldn't take much to fix. WRONG!!!

The bad news was $195 to repair the motor, icluding new sleeve bearings, or $210 for a new 1-hp AO Smith motor with ball bearings on the shaft.

Oh well, I bought the saw "used" in 1964 for $50. The new motor should last even longer than that, eh?

I have installed many AO Smith motors on well pumps. Good motors. Takes 6203 bearings which are standard. They aren't the motors of old though. The newer ones run hotter etc but still a decent motor. Should be a split phase which means you may be able to run it on either 110 or 220v. One of the easiest motors to switch the voltage and the start switch/capacitor is right in the end cap for easy servicing should it ever need maintenance.

Thats outrageous!

I would take that thing right back to the nearest Sears store and demand a refund or a replacement!!!

Check out Harbor Freight. They have some bargains and I have had good results with their tools.

I used to get a catalog that was full of motors of all descriptions. Wish I had a copy and I could send it to you.:)
