Mark brought me over to see a cool Crocker Ketch this morning. The owner died 2 years ago after a 5 year battle with Alzheimer's. His widow knows the boat is deteriorationg and needs a new home.

She had a book of Crocker designs, and this one is #76. 32' x 8.5' x 5.5' She was built in 1926. She also had a signed copy of Bud MacIntosh's book, they were friends of his. Either this ketch or a sistership was once owned by Murray Peterson. They have owned her since 1980.

She's been outside, uncovered. Cockpit full of snow. Deck covered with leaves. the mast is sagging and starting to delaminate. It looks like she was really well built. Here are the pics:

She's got a Vetus diesel, and her interior might be stored in the basement. If someone needs a project she might be worth a look. The pics she showed us were stunning.

Steve-
You know how I love to ID an old boat. I tried to look her up in "Sam Crocker's Boats" by Sturgis Crocker. Is that the book she showed you? No design #74. She looks a lot like #76, though, and the dimensions are right. All of the #76's are listed as yawls, though that could have been changed. The first in that series, Fremari, is listed as having been owned by Murray Peterson. The drawings show two elliptical ports, but the photo of Fremari shows multiple rectangular ports. Quite a project for someone.

That's it Terry. #76.
I wonder what's happening with the boat we looked at that time. I was hoping to hear more about that project.

Ah yes, the Mystery Boat. Did you say she was moved from where we saw her?

She was supposed to be moved in the spring. I've had no info, though. Mark lives about three houses away from where that boat was. I'll have to talk him into getting the story.
