Not sure if anyone else is scouring the inter-tidal for that big A1 grade Western Red that is floating out there for me, just waiting to come ashore, but this is a great document on grading timber. Not too technical, and has lots of info that could save some mistakes from being made - on whats worth it and whats not. The section on calculating twist is pretty cool.
No doubt experience is best, but this is a good read.
