A friend of mine asked me to do some research on these two schooners sailing out of Martha's Vineyard. She wants to get married on a tall ship under sail, and these two came to her attention.
Does anybody have any experience or knowledge of these two vessels?
Thanks,
Harvey

The Douglas family owns both schooners and they are fine people. I wouldn't hesitate to hire them for a wedding 'site' if they are willing and interested.

What about the schooners Adventuress or Martha?
Both are on Puget Sound up in Port Townsend.

(If she was good enough for Katherine Hepburn...?)
Right now Captain Robert D'Arcy has Martha up on the hard at Port Townsend Boat Haven, at the Port Townsend Shipwrights Co-op shed, and he is rebuilding her from the bottom up. Pretty remarkable to see this kind of old world workmanship in this day and age. The genius of old wooden ships is simply amazing to me. He will be working seven days a week for the winter months to restore this historic schooner.

My friend has most of her family on the east coast (around Philly) and her mom doesn't fly. Closer to Philly is better, but she wants to be married on a traditional sailing vessel, under sail, that can accomodate around 50 people. We've been looking at the Chesapeake and the Maine coast (though Maine is a bit of a stretch for her family).
If she were getting married out here, it would probably be on Martha, Adventuress, Zodiac, or Lady Washington.
I tried to talk her into this:

but she wouldn't bite.

Pride of Baltimore II, wedding party aboard for sail and ceremony, at dockside for reception. http://www.intandem.com/NewPrideSite/Pride2/P2Charter.html May be too pricey, though.

Pride was on the list, but her website says she'll be on the Great Lakes all summer.
Love her though. Absolutely gorgeous. I've built one model of her already and plan to do another.
Thanks!

What about the Schooner Pioneer at the South Street Seaport Museum?
PM me as I work for the Museum and don't want to violate the rules of our host.
