The Sydney Wooden Boat Festival is on again on the weekend 8th and 9th march. Im thinking (seriously) of taking DECATUR down to attract/snare a buyer! Anyone else planning to attend with or without boat...?
Bernadette
Hi Bernadette
We should be attending (w/out boat/s - in various stages of repair!) and would like very much to meet with you if you bring DECATUR down.
We saw her at the marina at Port Douglas July '05 and would have liked to have had a closer look but you seemed a bit busy so we didn't intrude. She is a stunner and would be great meet with you and have a crawl over (Decatur, that is!).
Will send you PM with our email address.

Well I was thinking of the Geelong event, mostly Couta boats but now I might reconsider. I could make it an extended day trip I reckon.
I'm thinking I might try for the Tassie wooden boat show next year, I've never been to Tassie and have always wanted to.
Hope the weather is good for you Bernadette. It's been a bit lumpy out there lately.

I'll be there, it would be great to catch up with you and Decatur.
Chris.

I will most probably be there, depending on work travel requirements. Closer to the date we should all try for a get-together.

I don't think you're missing anything Bernadette. It seems many of the WBF regulars near Sydney (and some from further away) have responded and are going to the festival.
Maybe you thought there were much more about?

Hi Bernadette, I'm hoping to head down for the festival as well so will expect to see you there.
Tattooed John, my eyes aren't what they used to be so I've gotta ask...what is the photo beside your post? It looks like two cane toads having fun with a chicken carcass?
cheers

I reckon its a dead wombat - rear view. Maybe I've seen too many dead wombats.
Bernadette. I'll be there - but without Grantala.

Count me in. It's a long way from Tassie but should be great fun. I'll have a couple of boats there - a Caledonia yawl (for sale) and a traditional Gartside 10' huon clinker sailing dinghy that is being raffled by a local school down here.
It would be good to put some faces to names.
regards,
AD

Will you being stopping anywhere on the way near the Tweed? Love to see Decatur!! I know Gary and Peter would as well!! Love to get down to Sydney but unless I can get a bit of work down there at the time I doubt I'll go at this stage. May get a bit working 'apprentice-like' in a yard on the Pittwater for a week or so at a stretch. If coincidence is happy then I'll want to catch up with as many of you as I can!! If not...
Well...
Bugger!!

Seems that just on a month out from the Festival, the committee havnt yet decided whos in and whos not. If the AMM doesnt wish for the festival to become an all too parochial affair then, better (earlier) organisation is required so that 'visiting' yachts/boats have plenty of time to get there etc etc. I have crew arriving on Monday and one other has put his personal/working life on hold for me so that he is available for the voyage south.

I'm in Sydney earlier that week anyway for a work conference. Hope you can make it Ian. Be great to meet my strongest supporter in the Oz Politics thread. ;)
Hi Bernadette
Did you finally get a slot for the Festival and are in Sydney or on your way? Hope so, and look forward to saying 'Hi' next weekend!

G'day mate - to answer for Bernadette (she hasn't got much internet access at present) - Yes, she is entered and will be there. She's got a little bit more painting to do, but seemed happy to have a day off today and enjoy some chilli crabs.
The museum has adopted a rather unusual approach to visiting boats though (separate thread down in Misc on this). It seems they think it too risky to have visiting boats tie up there - but you may well remember boats like Duyfken tying up there in the past. In the meantime - Bernadette is out on a mooring.

Spoke to Bernadette earlier. The move to the Museum wharf is on tomorrow. Plenty happening there on Saturday and Sunday.

Geez, leaving visitors out on a mooring sucks. Lots a nice boats to drool over. Shd be a good weeknd
Have fun on Decatur this weekend. Say "g'day" to Bernadette for me. Watch the highfield levers on the backstays.

Yeah - I've got another 166 photos. I'm pretending to be working at the moment, so the only ones I've put up are on Carl's thread. I'll double my work output for the day (about 15 minutes so far) then do some more.
