www.sailingvoyageur.org links to some nice lines and construction drawings. Now, the question: what are some similar designs that are available to the general public?

You might start with some of L.F.Herreshoff's designs submitted to The Rudder. H28 comes immediately to mind.

Great little boat, eh, Paul. There is a gaggle of the small swoopy cruisers that interest me. It seems when a fiberglass Rhodes project turns-up on ebay it disappears before the auction ends. The Alberg designs seem to have lost some of their sheer after he left the Alden firm. The glass Rhodes 28' Ranger would be a nice hull on which to place a new wooden deck and house. Rhodes' Chesapeake 32 is about perfect in the swoop factor. Findng a glass hull that has 'that' sheer line is difficult.

Here you go on that score-

This Ranger belongs to WBF member Lance Gunderson: http://tinyurl.com/yusurv

This Meridian needs work: http://tinyurl.com/yvydcp

The Rhodes Ranger 28 is classic. The lines of the coach roof (on both boats) fit so well into the whole design. I just started a deal for a 30' glass hull that looks like a later version of Malabar, Jr. I have that 'it's too good to be true' feeling. Nice cruising boats, I sailed one for a few months.
