DEWALT DC9360 HEAVY - DUTY 36 V BATTERY PACK
I've been thinking of using this type of battery on an electric bike .Does anyone know the amp/hr storage on these ?

I'm not sure if I'm getting the right info....but the battery pack that I pulled up referenced 72 volts and 3250 peak watts.....so I assume that the pack uses lithium ion.....which would be equal to 60 each "D" type NiMH batteries in series of 1.2 volts at 8.25 amps each....NiMH batteries would require a thermister and temp fuse wired in place for safety, as I assume someone would do for the Lithium ion for safety reasons also.
For 36 volt you would use 30 "D" cells at 8250 mah wired in series and then you could parallel several of those packs to get a higher power density. It's cheaper that way as the "D" cells with tabs are available here wholesale for about $4 each or $8 retail across the counter. I have built such packs for "gov't" applications, and if you change the rapid charge cycle to 4 step and reduce the controlled charge current to a 30% charge rate (change the charging from 2 hour rapid charge to a 3-4 hour controlled charge) you can more than double the life expectancy/recharge cycles of the pack.....if you can get more specific about your application, current and voltage requirements, and the controller design, I'll design a battery pack for you that you can assemble far cheaper than a commercial off the shelf device....I have an adjustable charger design already in production, and if you can solder without burning your fingers I can obtain a board and handfull of parts for you.
