I am looking for some 5/8" closed body galvanized turnbuckles. I can't find anything online or from any of the usual industrial supplies I frequent. Anyone have an idea of where to find some?
Thanks,
Jeff Carson
I can't figure why anyone would make them.

I used to have a couple, but a bit smaller--I don't think anyone makes them anymore. The open-body versions are pretty suspect, in general.
I tried searching under the English spelling of "galvanised" and the English word "bottlescrew". I came up with these guys, http://www.tsrigging.co.uk they don't show any in pictures, but could be worth contacting. If you separate "bottle" and "screw" you come up with a bunch of other suppliers.
Good luck. Coffee break over for me.

We used to call really large ones 'steamboat ratchets', but..as for galvanized, I've used several on Royaliste, and they go to hell quickly; a matter of weeks at sea.....

They're definitely available ...you could try searching for " rigging screws".

It's really a matter of the quality of the galv .Close body ones benefit from being packed full of grease or lanolin ( my preference ).Lifting gear suppliers are the best source ,as their products are usually of very good quality and tested .

Yeah, we've greased 'em, and parceled and served 'em, but when we run for weeks on end in 90-100 degree heat, the stuff runs out, and the seawater still wins..I use few, but now I stick with stainless painted black...good luck
