Well, it's just a rough outline at this point, but it looks like our little privateer will be in several reenactments in two nations, and some nice Tallship events ( there are several that still need to respond)...Port Huron, Michigan in late June, A Canadian Naval reenactment in July in Georgian Bay, Ontario..Fourth of July in Sandusky, Ohio, August in New York and the St. Lawrence, being pirates again in Alexandria Bay, and a fall Grand Tactical War of 1812 Reenactment in St. Leonard, Maryland....Small arms, men, we'll board 'er when she nears!......

Good! I hope to see you. We have a cottage on stag Island, just south of PH in the river, and of course Drake is in Penetanguishene.

If i sail alongside you, I'll raise my square too!

Aye, so far it's looking like a rather 'interesting' summer..Somewhere along the line, I've gotta stop for a week or so and do some roofing on my home in South Dakota...Product failure ahead of it's time..There is also a university in Pennsylvania trying to place us on the river south of Pittsburgh...dunno, I'm sketchy on river stuff without charts....

I still regret not seeing you when you were in Cleveland,Ohio.
I'll see you in Sandusky on the fourth for sure.
Hope the surgery went well Gary.

Yeah, the 'Fourth' should be good, altho' they are a wee bit slow in getting back to us...We really enjoyed Cleveland, and will most likely stop 'unofficially' this summer...Surgery seems to have went good, although I'm being a bit cautious, and still have the splint on for protection, as I'm sanding and varnishing aboard Orca..

Around the same time (week later) in July, 30 miles east of Sandusky, the Port of Lorain,Ohio is having the 2008 "Portfest".

The "Bounty" and "The Europa" have been at past events with large crowds touring the tall ships.

The Port Authority might be interested if you're going to be in the area.
Their web site and contact info is here...

We just lined out several more events on the 'Lakes..Toledo, OH..Toronto, Port Colborne, ON. Also, I just got off the horn with the owner/captain of La Revenante, the double ended Pink schooner with whom we'll be in company with thru most of these events, and we are really going out whole hog on putting together battle sails of epic proportions. We'll like it, the crowds will love it, and we will be setting stage for a spectacular three year run on the Great Lakes..If you like wooden ships, smoke and fire, and men who live to do this, it's my promise we'll not let anybody down, really grand, a Tayle of Two Privateers.......

Hey, if you see any women that live to do that, could you give them my email? Thanks...

That sounds like a lot of fun!

Wel,uh....In reality, depending on various crew changes, we sometimes DO have a number of women doing it. But, due to the whole 'period' thing, they are generally dressed as men. The exception is when we pirate reenactments, as the women can dress as whatever type of pirate they choose. Last year, the crew was mostly male. But the year before that, we were almost entirely composed of women.. Just a'roll of the dice' when I makw calls for crew.
