Hey, folks,
Just thought some of you might be interested in this. Myself, Gary Henderson of Florida, and Larry Offner of Denham Springs, La., launched a new e-zine on New Year's Day called Far & Away. We just published our second issue this past weekend.
Though we're starting off small, we hope we'll grow into our feet before long. It's intended to be outdoors writing and images (photography, painting, etc.) that's more kin to the type of material of the "golden age" of the outdoors magazines. While it may be largely the Roger/Gary/Larry show so far, we're getting some great contributors starting to take interest.
Check it out:

Hope you find something you enjoy. We hope to do one a month. No sponsors, noncommercial, we're paying for this out of our pockets.
Best regards,
Roger Stouff

Good to see you here again. Seems like it's been forever.
Good to hear from you, Roger. Congrats with the new mag. Looks like a very worthwhile project. I'll give it a better read later.:)

Very nice. I'm blanking on this man's name or even his paper, but the guy who runs the outdoors section of Idaho's major paper could be a nice fit with you, if he has the time.

Thanks, folks. I do check in here every few weeks, but rarely find reason to post. No boat projects going on over here in years, though I keep having the hankering to start one. But my now 81-year-old mom's been ill off and on for two, two and a half years now. Was getting married fall 2006 but had to put that off because mom was eight months in and out the hospital. We're trying to jump the broom this May now that mom seems to be on the mend.
Hope ya'll enjoy the site. Stick with it, I expect it to get better and better from its humble beginnings. :)
Good to hear from you, Roger, here and there. Will read again!

I imagine there's a better than 70% chance unless it's on Jazz fest weekend.

No, I never sent one before, because it was postponed.
But if I DO send one, when it does happen, I can count on you to show your face down here on the Rez, right????
Thanks all for the kind words, too!
Thin Places is mighty atmospheric!

Thank you very much! Had to be atmospheric, because the setting sure was. I may go look again, but I think my grandpa was right...if you leave a treasure behind, you can't ever return to it.

Loved the 'Thin' story Roger, places in the Kimberlys have a similar atmosphere. Thousands of years of layered cave art make you aware of the transitory nature of one life.
Have you heard of the Min Min lights, mysterious lights dancing in the air. >http://www.theozfiles.com/min_min_lights.html<
It seems that the explanation is atmospheric >http://www.uq.edu.au/news/?article=4265> but that doesn't lessen the wonder and mystery.

Yes I have! Fascinating, utterly fascinating.
Reminds me of what my old grandpa told me once, when I started getting my college education and questioning some of the beliefs of our ancestors, he said, "Boy, what necessarily about how something works negates why something came to be that way? Just because scientists say that's swamp gas out there glowing at night, does that mean it can't be anything else?"

Just a note...the March issue went online last weekend. Some good reading inside, we think.

Nice!
Two suggestions --
I have a slight problem reading the stories because of the lack of blank lines between the paragraphs -- it all seems super-compressed, and my eye sorta skids off to the side, looking for something less solid...
Also, on the homepage I kept trying to click on the name of the story for the link to it, rather than the photo or the GO! link -- if you don't want the names to be links, don't underline 'em.
