When I was a kid-warf-rat-boat-nut in the Larchmont NY area I knew an old man named Mr Somek (Not def in spelling here.) He had been with the old Nevins Yard on City Island in the Bronx NY. He was a Naval Architect and Designer and engineer boatbuilder all of his life. He was in his sixties or seventies when I knew him in the 1960's. He used to take a few of us kids with him to City Island to see the boats and the yards, and meet some of the old builders around then. He talked about Nevins all of the time. At that point there were still boats in the old yard but it was not run as Nevins anymore. Later they built a public school there. Does anyone reading know any history on Mr Someck? City Island was once a hub of boatbuilding. It's pretty much a yuppie shang ri la now.
