View Full Version : Swedish Koster Class going to new home
OK, with all the Swedish/baltic boat threads lately I thought I would put this up.
The Swedish 1930s Koster Boat I have had at WBRF is finally going to a good home. I was very picky on this one. The fellow taking it could use all the help he can get: History of the boat, what was original and what was not, etc. We will be able to keep up with his work via the WBRF Resstoration Logs.
Here she is:

Hey Bruce,
I'm going to be giving away my Folkboat on the WBRF. I know you are leaving soon. Can I post the listing my self, or will you have to do it? I have some pics, but not all yet. That's why I'm waiting.
Good mention on your other business in Jane Mag too... (It's my girlfriends)

Hello. I am the proud owner of boat mentioned above by Bruce. She is now located on my property in Southbury, CT. I will be doing some cleaning this weekend and then place as many of her parts temporarily back together so I can photograph and make a record of details. I will be posting some pictures for all to see. I'm trying to determine her history. Bruce got her from the Sag Harbor area of Long Island. He said she was simply known as "Swede" or "the Swede". If anyone knows about her history there I would appreciate details. Her sails were made in Henan, Sweden. With that info I was able to track down the Orust Babyggarutbildning (boatbuilding) School. On their web site I found a picture of a similar boat. I have contacted them with no reply yet. I look forward to a lot of good advice. Thanks in advance. Ken

Welcome aboard Ken  And post many pics of your new baby!! ;)
Noah whats the go mate? I thought you were mad passionately in love with your Folkboat?? You fallen for some other hussy? :( If so its time for the you know what ol son!!! Pics!!! tongue.gif
Hey Noah and Ken. Yup off to Iceland in about 1/2 hour---I will see if I can get some pix of wooden boats while there.
No need for me if you want to post the folkboat. Just set up a sellers account and get a password, then list the boat (in the text part have your contact info). Then submit the listing and go back and modify it to add pix.
Noah, I was in Jane Magaizine? Wow did't know that--is it a good article? Last time they said what I was doing was "strangle Sexy" I expect is not about WBRF, but instead about my real life gig, Overland Experts....yes?
I know, OVERLAND???? Well I run a 4x4 training and expedition business here in CT and all over the world---thus the Iceland thing. But I dream of Boats---tough life smile.gif
Talk to you in a few weeks, Bruce

Hi Ken
I've started on my second project boat from the WBRF and hope to see you're coaster on the progress logs. Bruce has done a great service for the rotting boats in the back yards in the area. I hope this spreads and more of these old boats are saved. Mabey this will spread nationwide. Good luck with her.

Hi Adamant - I will start a progress log soon - looking for inspiration from all who have really got the job done - as far as rig goes - Bruce's illustration was done before he knew all the details - it is actually a double headsail rig and the mast is taller than his illustration (have not measured it yet) - more details to come - Ken
