View Full Version : Transducer location on a Simmons?

Does anyone have any experience with a transom mount transducer on a Simmons style hull? It is generally recommended that the transducer not be mounted aft of the prop - with the outboard in a well I'm wondering if there will be too much turbulence around the transom. Thanks in advance for any feedback. Alec

If you put it in the well, you could possibly cavitate the prop. Look on the Simmons site. There is a boat in the photo gallery called 'Black Pear' which shows a shot of the stern with a transducer wire. Rule of thumb for us in the business is 12" off of hull centerline as a minimum when possible. The bottom/stern juncture on a Simmons is not past the prop. I don't know if the motor mount is further forward in your hull than a real Simmons.

Sorry about the picture quality:
