All on one page! To help newcomers to casual racing events not be driven off by the numerous rules: http://www.sailing.org/22317.php

Interesting.

On one hand, if those rules prove themselves to be adequate, then the RRS as we know them are a colossal waste of energy.

On the other hand, they've traded comprehensiveness for ease of comprehension. LOTS of room for interpretation.

Thank goodness ISAF is not in charge of chess.

As written the simplified rules are for small fleet racing in boats smaller than twenty feet in casual races. Seems like a worthwhile effort to encourage broader participation at the entry level. Miniature golf vs. tournament golf.

I tend to be enthusiastic about any evolution of racing rules that involves active sailors experimenting and discussing changes. It is a more inclusive process than the norm, which tends to be sitting around for four years and waiting for some new tablets of stone to be handed down from on high.To be fair to the authors of the current RRS,they have to cover all possibilities in all types of race and the part that relates to sailing the course is a very small part of the total rule book.I think the appointment of a rules advisor makes sense in the context of dealing with novices racing. For more experienced racers,I wonder with a sense of despair that has increased since I read the report of the Endeavour Trophy last autumn. The event is held using identical plastic one design dinghies and is only open to class champions, some of whom were bemoaning the lack of rule observance at the event.

No. Your'e not missing something. The ISAF site is more confusing than any site I've ever had to ship photos to. I absolutely detest it.

I was hoping to find a decent link but I've thrown all those emails away.

sorry.
