I am just completing a new table to put in the salon of my trawler and am getting ready to finish it. I am debating w/ myself about a matte finish or high gloss. If I go w/ gloss, any suggestions on products that brush on easy and are durable enough to stand up to the beating/abuse a tabletop will take from my fishing buddies?
Thanks!

I have used satin polyurethane on tops that will get a fair bit of use. After several coats have dried I buff the surface with pledge furniture polish that gives a nice lustre. Regular poly is durable and not too hard to refinish in the future.
Are you doing it bright, or painted? My dinette top is finished with EasyPoxy (paint) and the top's trim is bright, finished in gloss poly.

Lemon Pledge is the most underated great wax product in the world. I have used it exclusively on all of my guitars for the last 35 years (35??? ). I wouldn't touch them with anyting else.
