Here is a report on the progress on "Charmian". The boat is coming along nicely under the expertise of master boat builder Rick Brown.
The new deck beams are all in place as well as the carlings. A new breast hook of purple heart was installed last week. All of the double sawn frames are complete and new steam bent frames will be put in where needed. The patterns for the bronze floors are now done and the floors will be hydro cut from quarter inch everdure plate with the angle plates to be tig welded on. All iron components such as X strapping on deck and in the way of the chain plates and the mast step strapping will be replaced with bronze as well. A new fore foot will be put in as soon as the floors are in place to give support to the hull when the old one is taken out. A boat builder going into retirment donated a clear 4x12 old growth VG air dried fir plank thirty two feet in length to the project. I never cease to be amazed how needed items seem to, miracuously, show up as if by magic when needed once a restoration is under way. I will say that this is one job that is under way in the right way! Rick Brown knows his stuff and this boat will be better than new when completed.

PS Photos will follow as soon as I can take the time to down load them.
