Hi
I'm wondering if acetone will act as a primer for Sikaflex 221?
Any thoughts :)

Whoops, spent a bit more time reading this site tonight and hope that Sekaflex and Acetone aren't regarded as swearwords

Try a small test piece, unless you are dealing with something you believe to be oily the acetone won't do much. There is a dedicated Sikaflex primer.

I regularly use acetone for prepping/cleaning non wooden areas that are to be caulked. If I was caulking a wooden seam such as teak I would use the proper primer.
Ah...just noticed your talking about 221. I only have experience with 291 & 292.
As you were.

Hi, I have a few areas on the deck along the gunwales where water is getting in and wanted to run some sealant along the suspect areas.
