I had a friend with the money to restore that boat eight or ten years ago. He wired me the cash and I gave the earnest money down on it with an accepted offer through Dock Street brokers. After the offer was accepted, the original broker quit returning calls over a couple days. Finally we got a call from another broker down there that said they had some how mixed things up and some new engine company from California was gong to buy it. Total BS when you consider that our offer had been accepted with no mention of anyone else in line first. Not to mention the taking of the ernest money.

Anyways, it sat for a couple more years over at Lake Union Drydock with the company from Cali never coming to get nor doing anying at all to keeping the elements out. The guy who bought it next was a real loser and was trying to get top dollar for it for the last few years. It sold and recently came on the market again. Being sold for the new owner by the weirdo previous owner. Sketchy, strange dealings. Not answering questions properly. Continuing to talk as if I know nothing about boats or wood boats for that matter. Even when told other wise. Down right strange behavior. Eight years ago there had been an awful lot of hull repair done. Properly. With all the neglect, who knows now.

Incidentally, it was supposedly owned by Al Capones interests and was actually caught running booze during prohibition. At that time it had two huge engines for outrunning the revenuers, and a third for making it look normal. I've got pics from a couple years ago here somewhere.

By the way, I love that boat. And if anyone wants to sponsor me, I'd be glad to take it on! :- )

Seriously, it's a classic example of idiots holding onto what they think is a gold mine while the thing rots into the past... What a shame...

The guy is trying to give this away. Guess why. If you could get the good stuff off it without having responsibility for the dross, that would be one thing. What do you suppose the cost of putting it to the chain saw might be? Fisherman's Terminal, with Ballard Bridge behind.

I know that boat. I used to step across it when I was looking to buy Ricochet. The guy that owned it last year? Well, my Papa said "If ya can't say somethin good, don't say nothin at all".

I don't think its too large a project, subject to hull condition. It looks like some dud planks and a dud transom. If the deck beams are OK, that's fine. If not, doing a "Poppy" to it is better than letting it die.

On that note, its time for me to load up a 1.0m square shower base and lug it out to Grantala and see if I can get it in where a 900mm one used to be. Ahh, the joys of rebuilding.

Single 6-71. Not functional at the moment. Owner says it needs refastening and "the wood is soft." And good lord Ian! Something must be done with that windlass motor!

Not for the faint of heart. Probably not for the brave either. Perfect for the foolish! A lifetime of unrequited work for the idle, as well.
