Does anyone have any idea what design this boat is?

Looks to me a little like an Al Mason Oskust with a different rudder placement.

Actually, it is a nice design, pleasing to the eye ...

And considering the weathered look, the wood looks pretty good. Teak or Iroko planking perhaps? Or something else?

The overhangs together with the fixed keel bolted on might suggest scandinavian peddygree.

Actually, my first thought was converted dragon, but she seems too "big" for that, the cabin would be too high, the freeboard looks to high, ... .

I understand that it was on display in a restaurant for 25 years, the paint has fallen off, both inside and out.

The overhangs together with the fixed keel bolted on might suggest Scandinavian pedigree.

Yes, I would agree with that.

Eh... those little wings on the front of the house top look like trouble to me.

I suppose this boat never takes a wave over the bow?

Looks a bit like Steven Bauer's boat....

Steven, have you recovered? Is it an Ostkust?

The detail of extending the cabin sides demands a decent scupper in the corner. It'd need careful maintenance. I like it a lot.

My first thought was that it isn't unlike the oldest skjaergaardkrysser designs.... before about 1915.

If I remember correctly, they carried a O in the sail at that time.
I'm not guessing it IS a skerry cutter, but it is not unlike the oldest ones. Scandinavian might be a good guess.

btw - My boat has the extensions on the cabin exactly like this one. They have never been any problem... even when I have taken waves over the bow in rough weather.

Don't know design or origin, unfortunately, but was wondering about the forward planking patern, any comments?

Alvan looks like a good match for the hull shape, I guess the cabin trunk could have been rebuilt or built differently from the original design.

The forward planking pattern - doesn't look very trust inspiring to me either.

Actually, it kind of suggests a repair - or shortcuts taken in the original built.

She's not an Ostkust, though similar. Keel is very different. And the stern shape. I think the planking at the bow must be from a repair. Do we know any dimensions? Beam, LOA, etc.

I haven't measured it yet. I saw it for the first time last Friday.

Isn't my boat, so I haven't had a really close look. Besides, I'm still not at peace with ladders.:D

Could it be a "Bluenose", with a reworked cabin. I can't see if the Bluenose is a double ender from this photo.

The boat in question is approx. 26ft or longer. The Bluenose is 24.5 ft. I would recognize a Bluenose, my first keel boat.

My first thought was an Ostkust too. But I think the Ostkust had an outboard rudder.
