I like to use a scraper to take off the runs/sags on the newly applied epoxy on my hull, but my favorite carbide scraper has very sharp pointed ends that are easy to accidentally dig into the finish. I'd like to just round the 2 ends over and eliminate their sharp points but what do you use on carbide? I haven't tried to use any of my files thinking that they would be softer than the scraper.

A green wheel is cheapest.
A diamond wheel is much better.

A friend gave me 3 diamond honing plates from Lydle ( a cheapy s/market chain that has special offers) He didnīt say how much, but just `cheapī
I was amazed how they sharpened my T/Carbide lathe tools, bit like taking a file to chocolate.

Doesn't it figure! A green wheel or diamond plate and I don't have either one. Darn it all.:(

A diamond wheel sharpening carbide teeth on a sawmill blade. These wheels run a hundred bucks for the good ones, but Harbor Freight sells cheapo diamond wheels for less than 10 that hold up well enough. They carry diamond stones and plates, too.

Something like this will knock the edge off your carbide. I use them at work all time. http://www.eze-lap.com/product/honestone.htm
Many hardware stores will have something like this for a few bucks.

Agreed. For what you want to do , there are lots of little diamond grit knife sharpeners out there. Check the sporting goods and cutlery stores.

Thanks all. I'm sure I can find a diamond lap of some kind around here locally. It sounds like just what I need.
