I'm getting close to finishing a replica of the Muscongus Bay sloop "Ranger" that's in the Maine Maritime Museum collection (yeah, after all these years!). Is anyone here familiar with an actual completed version of this boat? Specifically, does anyone know how much internal ballast it will take to sink her down to her painted waterline? I have amassed a collection of lead pigs, but I'm beginning to wonder if it is enough. Anyone know who I might contact?
Thanks in advance!

Try contacting the Atlantic Challenge Apprenticeshop in Rockland, Maine. They built several 22' Chapelle Muscongus Bay sloops and may have some guidance.

This is the Maine Maritime Museum version called "Ranger" not the Chappelle version. They are considerably different, but that might be a place to start.

I understand. I worked at the Museum and helped build the first of the 22 footers and know Ranger well, but I can't think of an alternative way to estimate ballast needs unless you perform the standard calculations for figuring displacement. Good luck in any case.
