I'm unloading boat stuff to ease trucking thinks North.

I have straight-used propeller shafts. I believe it is 7/8" diameter stainless Prop Shafting. I have about 12' of it in the two shafts. Free. Will put in the stainless recycling bin at work end of next week if no takers.

Located Northern San Diego County

7/8 is a rather small size and a bit odd...but there may be that odd boat that needs it...

If you would call the local machine shops, no doubt the first or second one will take it. They can always make something from it.

Craigs List would most likely expose it to more interested people??

Come on, Brian! Stainless shafting is running about two bucks an inch these days. You've got about $300 worth of stainless stock there. Throw it into the old covered wagon before you head north. You'll surely find a use for it. (It won't be too late for tomatoes when you get here... what're you gonna stake 'em with?)

One thing's for damn sure... "Cleek's Law" will apply: If you let go of that shafting, it's a lead pipe cinch you will find yourself needing some sometime in the next six months! Moving makes ya crazy, don't it? LOL

Well,

My "eyeballing" was wrong, it's actually 1 1/8".

Bob, I'm laughing my butt off. 2 1/2 years ago, I "threw it in the van", and trucked it 500 miles, along with the matching skegs, cutlass bearings, propellers, and rudders, all from a big Chris-Craft Matt was busting up at the yard 3 year ago. I've got a little over 200 lbs in bronze alone from that deal, then the shafting along with it.

I did notice that when his boys used the SawsAlls on the boat, they ended up notching one of the two 6-7' shafts. Anyhow, I haven't used them in 3+ years, so I gotta draw the line somewhere.

Yea, Yea, I could save them for some unplanned project...

Well, I do have that 20HP Albin sitting on the engine stand which needs a rebuild....

Anyhow, offer still stands. I'm getting more disciplined in my middle age. It's way past the "6 Month Rule"....

Come and get them. still free!

Yea, I know the feeling. Still, it sounds like they'd be just about right for the support columns on that steam engine we were musing about building the other day.

LOTS of uses for that shafting! LOL

Well Bob,

You are right, looks like I have a committment now.

I'll just drop those off in your front yard, so then you'll HAVE to build that Steam Engine.

While I'm at it, want to borrow my 800 lb 300 Amp TIG welder? It's wired for 220, but easily converts to 460?

Definitely! On both counts. I've got lots of space for stuff like this here at "Sanford and Son." I'll borrow the welder, too. I've got 220- 440 off of the three-phase in the shop! LOL I'm lusting after that triple in the bottom picture and would need bar stock for her.

The engine the Elliott Bay triple. The engine is supplied with castings for air, feed, and auxilary pumps driven from each of the three crossheads. Cylinder dimensions are HP 2.75, IP 4.375, LP 6.5 and stroke is 4 inches. Both the HP and IP valves are piston; LP is slide. Each of the three valvegears has cut-off adjustment, and, the builder has a choice of "split" or "closed" top end connecting and eccentric rods. The kit consists of 96 castings and 144 drawings. Crankshaft casting is supplied. Bar stock and fasteners are NOT supplied. Price $3,400. Drawings $300.
