Hi everyone,
Having just found the 'Wooden Boat Forum' I am impressed and now do not feel so alone in any boat restoration I will have.

I have too many lead ballast pigs and willing to part with some.
there are 56 in total and each oblong shape, weigh 2stone each and are covered in plastic. these are sitting in my garage in Yorkshire.
Does anyone need them.

Welcome aboard - that's generous.

From the language I'd guess you're in Britain - the colonials don't recognise stones.

We do , you find them in creek beds .

stone = 16#, 2 stone = 32#

Where I come from, a "Stone" is an eighth part of an hundredweight - which is of course an hundred and twelve pounds...

As I remember I weigh 10 3/4 stone , long memories , we colonials !(Bilingual in weight and measures too )

1 Stone = 14 lbs.

If the wool and wheat clippers were still plying between here and Mother England, I would put in a order for 1 cwt. of pigs as a back load.

But, as we now have container ships, I could not afford the cost of an empty container let alone one filled with pigs.

Have to pass on this one.

Jim

I am interested in all the replies sent regarding the weight of my spare lead 'pigs'. All i can say is that they are far far too heavy hence the name 'PIGS'
