Ya know...
Having a CNC machine cutting out your frames and notching them would have been a lot easier... I'm guessing it would have cut 100 hours off...
Now where is the bookmark button... I'll have to make a drool folder..

Last time I looked, a 4x8 Shopbot was about $5K .
Add the cost of shop space, software and skills, and you're getting into real money.
Sigh.

Sigh.Thats acutally 2,500, Once set up, two for the price of one. ;) Acutally it cost about 800 total to get it done for most boats, Many plans now come on the files to only be programed into the format for cutting the jigs out. Those machines can do a lot of different stuff like signs for large businesses.

The CNC "router" in the shop where I work cost about a quarter million. It'll do anything. Even plays Irish pipes during lunch.

:D The shopbot brand is a very inexpensive machine, and does work for jigs as good as any "Sabre" brand at 65 grand, the last time I priced them. There is a guy that cuts all of Karl Stambaugh kits with one. He helped develop them, when the man started selling them. We cut many of the smaller flared boats, with stringers, keels and notches for battens incorporated into the cuts, if desired.
You should check out Mike Windsor's site (http://www.windsorboatworks.com)
He uses the Shopbot and produces some fine work here in Ontario.
Great machine!
