Hi all - here's a short video David Gage made with his cell phone. :)

It works best if you make the screen smaller.

It proves once and for all that Claudia and I should not be allowed out without adult supervision   Heck, we can't even count to three... :D

The pity is that we didn't have a video from when we returned fire on the Castillo de San Marcos. But then again, it's probably slightly illegal to fire on a national landmark and it's probably better that we kept the evidence to a minimum. ;)

We did have a Hunter 49 surrender though. :) It was like "Cool! Our first prisoners!"

Enjoy the video and a special thanks to all that contributed to the "Cannon Fund." The cannon is one of SARAH's proudest possessions.

Great video, thanks Margo, Claudia and David.

But.. (isn't there always a but?)....

I think that both Margo and Claudia need more practise with the cannon. They seem to be afraid of it (its just a mild explosive) and will need to become one with it.:D

When was the last time you saw a pirate cringe when they fire a cannon?

By the way, If any body comes for a visit to Saint Augustine they can stop by the Castillo de San Margos.. after all, she did fire the last round, and I swear I saw a white flag flying over the fort....:D

What you lack in timing you make up for with enthusiasm! Keep the celebration going.

Will you be bringing your cannon to the Concordia Reunion?

Tabitha - the cannon was a gift from the WBF :D

As was John B's. Ed Harrow (being the senior cannon instigator) and I hatched a plan to buy a cannon for John B for Waione's 100th birthday last year. It got slightly complicated as New Zealand frowns on things like cannons, so it became a campaign for a "Yacht Safety Signaling Device" which is allowed for import to New Zealand.

It was all kept strictly top secret, but at some point as my e-mails and PMs regarding soliciting contributions for Waione's Yacht Safety Signaling Device Fund made the rounds, Ed (and I suspect Russ Manheimner) started forwarding my message with an addendum soliciting funds for a cannon for Sarah. :o

Unbeknownst to me, additional funds were raised and SARAH's cannon arrived the day before we launched last October. The pictures above are from SARAH's launch 10/27/07.

Thus my and John's cannons - er yacht safety signaling devices - are sister cannons so to speak.

However, for a country that frowns on firearms, he's fired off like a bazillion more rounds then I have. :D

We usually limit our firing to three rounds - figuring that's about how many we can safely get off before someone summons the authorities...

Sharon & Paul - I don't imagine the TSA will allow a cannon in my carryon, but maybe I can check it without violating too many federal laws...

But surely you've been advised that a cannon is standard Concordia gear ;)

Reminds me of Danny Glover and Mel Gibson trying to figure out if they COUNT to three or if they GO on three...

As I watch and rewatch the video, I'm reminded that pirates probably don't giggle either ;):o

Pikers, the lot of ya!

Back in the dark ages before such things could be documented for public viewing, we did a four-cannon (not counting the spud gun) broadside off Rick Prose's Frigate Bird in Boothbay harbor. If recollection serves, we might have done more than one, shock and awe and all that.

Congrats, again, to all those who 'served' in the yachting safety signaling device escapade. Finastkind.
