I attended the graduation of second year students yesterday at IYRS. As an amateur boat builder myself the school takes my breath away.
A friend of mine is a first year student. First year student project is to take a derelict, broken down Beetle Cat and completely rebuild or restore it.

What they end up with is basically a brand new boat. I would guess that less than 5% is original. http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd233/OceanSpray/th_IMG_2355.jpg What a great place to learn about boat building and restoration. The second year students tackle larger projects like this Six Meter "Madcap". They refastened the hull and completly replaced the deck. http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd233/OceanSpray/th_IMG_2334.jpg
Inside a massive shed they had the One hundred and twenty three year old "Coronet" awaiting a bazillion dollar restoraration.http://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd233/OceanSpray/th_IMG_2303.jpghttp://s221.photobucket.com/albums/dd233/OceanSpray/th_IMG_2308.jpg
Lots of large project boats in a lot adjacent to the main building
