Here is the "shoreliner" we have and on further scrutiny and now being able to truly see it, I think it is not a shoreliner (you were right (shame on me) WB forum guy (name?)) :)

Anyway, 6 were built and the name Atkin was mentioned, but that is it. They were built in Providence in the 60s or 70s. HELP ID HER!!!!!!
web page (http://www.woodenboatrescue.org/Help%20ID%20this%20boat.htm) Click Sea Troll.

Made a few diagrams from the photos to help---please let me know your thoughts Sea Troll (http://www.woodenboatrescue.org/Sea_Troll.htm) ---has a Dutch feel to it or something. I can't get the pictures onto this thread since I do not have one of those deposit server things---does someone want to put it up?

Cheers, Bruce

Look in Designs for "Atkin Shore Liner", there was a thread discussing this boat some time ago.

Bruce,

Think "Dutch" Tjalk (sp?)

Steel construction adapted to wood ?

Nothing in the shape/lines suggests Atkin, to my eye.

Bruce,

I'M LOOKING !

Can't find the pic that I was thinking of. Got a different pic off the net this PM, but now I can't find that one either. Now where did I put .....

I may not have been correct when I called it a "tjalk." From what I found this afternoon, it looks more like a small version of a "zeeschouw,"
with a centerboard in place of the leeboards.

I will .. repeat: WILL ... find the new picture and send it in e-mail.

Regards,

Ed R

I'm sorry to say, it definately isn't dutch. Dutch flatbottom boats mostly have leeboards. Here are some pictures (I took during Sail 2005 in Amsterdam) of the elegant bows of real "hoogaarsen" (yes, the correct translation is high arse).

I was really thinking she was 'Based" on a dutch idea---clearly not true dutch.

great pictures by the way!

Could this be a Peter Culler design?
