He designed the famous "Skeletons an Roses" poster for the Grateful Dead's album.

Amazing: a pinch of art nouveau, some day-glo ink, a gifted eye for composition, voila! A whole new genre that's still popular 40+ years later. In junior high school every notebook I had was decorated with my efforts at copying that style, but day-glo paint and inks were hard to come by and expensive then; I can still remember the smell of some fluorescent "cerise" red spray paint I used on a mobile I'd made. Whenever I see really good graffitti I can't help but think of Kelly and his contemporaries. That Grateful Dead logo is truly an icon.
