Looks like too much fun! Nice balanced design. Should be a candidate for Roger Taylors Good Boats Series!

For a few years he had been working in the aircraft industry, I think it was ergonomic designs of instrument layouts. I think he is about to get started again in some boat design work. He does good work.

She is an extremely well behaved boat. Very narrow, so if you put up too much sail area, she balks a little. When overpowered in a strong wind, she looses quite a bit of speed upwind. But when sail area is correct, she handles great. A couple of weeks ago on a wednesday night race we had winds in the upper 20s, gusting often in the lower forties. I had both reefs in the main and I have a 80% baby jib (about 1.2 the square footage of the 95% in the photo above). We did 5.5 - 6 knots upwind and 7.5-8.5 knots downwind. Perfectly balanced the whole time, I could literally steer her upwind with two fingers. Of course, quite a bit of traveller work in the gusts.

I'm a big fan of Dias, too. She looks to have a very tall rig! What does she look like below the LWL? Type of keel, amount, etc.
The big wide coaming is interesing...he likes that even in small boats. I have sailed/rowed his Harrier design a bit. Loved it.
Cheers,
Clint

The rig is about 41' from the cabin trunk. It is fairly tall. Underneath she has a low-aspect fin keel with bulb/wing, balanced rudder, she draws about 4'3".
The coaming is a neat feature. lots of storage space inside, and the shape is nice. When you see the boat, it doesn't seem too big at all. It slopes outward, so when the boat heels, it provides a flat surface.
