OK, darn it... we went sailing again :p
David Gage, seayou7 and I took a quick turn out Saturday to test the new roller furling. David Gage may have some pictures, I was busy running the boat.
And Sunday ...
Things started out nice.
Clearing the Bridge of Lions aka construction zone...

Going out the cut was a little breezy, but heck, it's a sailboat right? Wind is what makes them work :D

But then... ah....
Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip,
That started from this tropic port,
Aboard this tiny ship.
The mate was a mighty sailing man,

Five passengers set sail that day,
For a three hour tour, a three hour tour.
The weather started getting rough,

The Sarah would be lost, the Sarah would be lost.
The ship set ground on the shore of this uncharted desert isle,

Did I tell you I met a woman sailing a couple of months ago who keeps a boat at St Augustine, Margo. Forgot all the details.. might be a C and C 35 I think. Rachel and Andy, they live on Huron the rest of the time.
So , looking at Google earth, you go about a mile and a half or so to get out of the cut from the bridge... how far to the bridge do you have to go ? Close by ?
Is there anywhere to day sail to from there.. is it tidal access for you?

Hi John - I think you can put "St. Augustine Marine" or "404 Riberia Street" into Google Earth and that'll show the marina. It's a bit of a hike, but less than 30 minutes to the bridge (which opens on the half-hour so timing is important). ;)
I know everyone thinks their home waters are the most wonderful, but St. Augustine Marine sits on some of the most beautiful marsh / river area ever. I am truly blessed.

Oh, thats cool... up the little estuary.;)
oh and thats right.. Thelma had a problem getting out when she was there didn't she. Hit the bank (presumably) out at that cut.

Sailing looks way funner than restoring. Great pictures.
I'd be jealous but you all seem to be enjoying it too much.

I think Ginger was the only red head wasn't she? :D
I think Sarah could take more wind than most people would like and not worry her pedigreed head about it at all..:D She's a boat I would love to be aboard with the rail buried and full speed ahead.

I heard there were some pictures...
I can't comment on the Ginger aspect, but otherwise Peter's got it right. You go girl!

Mary Ann here... the pictures are great! Matter of fact, Alex just happened to be standing behind me when I pulled them up (I'm at work... don't tell), and he wanted me to tell you "the smile is back"!
So what if we had a little rain, and a couple of lightning strikes (maybe I'm being modest)... I had a blast, despite the fact that my husband was green. But, what a soldier! He's ready for the next race (or lack thereof)!
Thank you, Margo and Sarah, for a wonderful time! :D

Nice! It's nice to see someone else besides Joe and m'self posting up about actually sailing these old boats. Sarah's looking good Margo and yes, the old girls really like it when the breeze is up.

So, I get to be the Professor....cool:)
With Chuck's help we can make a radio out of a coconut, and a couple pina coladas too
What a great day it was. Margo didn't get bragging rights since the race was cancelled, but we all new that we were certainly in the hunt. Sarah had a blast, you could tell she loved the conditions. Good seas and a stiff breeze, just what she was made for.
I am again grateful to have the opportunity to be part of it all.
