THE WOODEN BOAT ASSOCIATION of QUEENSLAND inchttp://www.woodenboat.org.au/qld/Put-put_rudder.JPG

The Wooden Boat Association of Queensland is open to all owners, builders, restorers and lovers of boats made of wood (not surprisingly). Old, new, carvel, clinker, ply, composite. We don't care. As long as it's got wood. Lots of wood. The more wood the better really. Aims

The main aims of the WBAQ are:

To foster and promote an active interest in all matters relating to the history, development and future, and the building, restoration and preservation of wooden boats in Queensland;
To encourage and promote contact with interstate and overseas organizations with similar interests; and
Where approved by the Executive Committee, to raise monies for charitable or research organisations or for community projects, any of which will further community standing of the Association.
Meetings

WBAQ meets at 7:30 pm, the second Tuesday of each month (except January.. we're out on the water) at the Queensland Maritime Museum, South Brisbane Dry Docks, Sidon Street, South Brisbane (South end of Southbank Parklands), Brisbane. As well as general show and tell and a boasting/confessing session, a guest speaker is arranged for each meeting to talk on topics from naval architecture to forestry, from marine electrics to wire rope splicing.
Don't miss this one! Brisbane's Beautiful Boat Show (http://www.woodenboat.org.au/qld/boat_show.htm)
Membership

Members range from people who have never raised a Spear & Jackson No 15c Panel Saw (with brass inlaid handle) in anger (and never will), to professional boat builders who have been practicing the art since the 1930s. Want to get in touch? Go to the Contacts (http://www.woodenboat.org.au/Nat/contacts.htm) page. The WBAQ also runs a boatshed at the Queensland Maritime Museum (http://www.maritimemuseum.com.au/), documenting and restoring various QMM boats and running wooden boat building and repair workshops. There is a $15 joining fee plus an annual subscription of $30 which includes the monthly newsletter "The Log". Simply print out and fill in the WBAQApplication.pdf (http://www.woodenboat.org.au/qld/files/WBAQApplication.pdf)(16kb) and post it in with a cheque.

Duncan

Yes, Sea Lark is my boat. Unless it shrunk last night, when I left it at the Museum it was a TS18.
I hope to be there on Friday and Sunday. The owner of TS18 "Phill Ann" will be there Saturday.

I believe there wil be about 30 boats of all shapes and sizes present. Looking forward to seeing you there.

Damn! It would seem I'll miss you Jim as I'll only be coming up on Saturday. Are you leaving Sea Lark there for the whole thing or are you going down to the sea with her on Saturday? TS18 it is! Larks has a TS16..

I will try to make Saturday.
Sea Lark will be there all weekend. Phil from Phil Ann will be there on Saturday. He probally has more knowledge about Hartleys than I do.
If you frequent a store that has a "bias" towards marine products at Slacks Creek, you may have met Phil.

A couple of Hartley TS18s at the Boat Show.

For the first wooden boat show held in the city centre, I believe the organisers can claim the show was a success.
