Completed, but starting to consider modifications for runners this winter.
First boat, mostly for fishing, to be trailered from Cape Cod to the Carolina's as time permits.
I've got some concerns about the inaccessible bilge, but the bays are well ventilated and the joints are decent and insured with epoxy. I suppose I could cut inspection ports and worry about gaskets.

Very nice Helvit! I would certainly add a few openable deck hatches, and live with the risk of some gasket leaks. Water always seems to find a way in to anything completely "sealed", no matter how hard you try.
What did you use to fasten one strip to the next? Nails, screws, how long etc. Thanks. Tony.

Helvit- 6" round plastic, gasketed inspection ports might be your answer, I have them in the floors panals between every frame so I can inspect. Six inches seesm about right size, cheap, easy to install.

Thanks.
Tony R-- "What did you use to fasten one strip to the next?"
The specification for edge nailing in Dave Stimson's plans is for bronze ring nails, 2 1/2", 14 gauge, which is lighter than I could find. I used 7d, located at http://www.swansecure.com/
Brian in Whippany, I'm down at Lambertville. If you might be headed this way anytime between now and mid-May, when the boat will migrate north until October, let's communicate by private message here.

Highest regards to Alton Wallace and Dave Stimson. Felt just fine, including the 4' swells in the inlet.

I don't think I've ever seen a better looking outboard motor boat than the Ocean Pointer. And yours is a fine example.
I hope the weather is better next time out! Good thing you had the glow of builder's satisfaction to keep you warm...

Sweet - you should be button popping proud.
Underway, she looks "right" - can't ask for much more.

That is a great job!
From book to boat - got to love it!
You'll be turning a lot of heads - and that is before they find out you built it!

Splendid. It must be the sheer line...
How's she built?
Carvel planked with edges epoxied together?
Like strip-planking with large, bent strips?
Are there stations?
(Sorry, couldn't access to Imagestation).
