Whew! Hot. Damn hot. Too hot to think. Way too hot to get down and dirty on this project.

We actually spent some time under our antique sprinkler. I was good for about two seconds a shot I think, but it was refreshing. :D Spent more time in the bookstore where it was cool smile.gif . Read an article by Aimee F (sp? & I can't remember) in Fine Woodworking. If you've not seen it, she likes diamond paste, and another on bandsaws.

So, to help keep things cool(?) in Our Lady of St Phoenix I was finally able to slather a coat of latex white primer over the southerly and westerly sides, and hang some shade cloth in the doorway. Wish I could say it dropped the temp inside 20 F, but it certainly is keeping the sun from shining directly on Phoenix. (Yes, I've taken a picture.)

And, given the amount of time I have been spending watching Zach (anybody want him...?, LOL) I've been making progress at rebuilding our website, tho I've not yet republished it as I still have quite a ways to go.

Well we know the trouble that Ed's been having with his website, and that this trouble is impacting on all of us by not allowing us to see our weekly photo for some time now. So I thought an archive pic might be in order.
This is one from last year and by strange coincidence just happens to be the photo which caught the armadillo. Yes Folks, the armadillo. Very rare in Ed's part of the hemisphere, but there she is, just off to the right of the photo, just crouching there in front of the boat and by the toolbox. A bit like the Yeti, often seen but rarely caught on film.

And of course, the blurred closeup

It's a veritable wildlfe refuge is Ed's place. Rumour has it that Steve Irwin is doing an episode there very shortly called "Don't tackle the hedgehog"

Nope, can't be. Norm doesn't do lawnmowers.

Hey Norm,

Isn't it about time you hook'em up and start heading west? We here in the San Juans have enjoyed the best summer in years! Lets just hope it holds through September, typically one of our better months!

I have it on good authority that the armadillo actually belongs to Roosevelt, who usually is hiding in the trees. In this photo, you can see the glint of reflected sunlight off his glasses at almost the top of the trees directly above and a little to the left of the armadillo.

Note that the bush must be afraid of that lawnmower, as it has moved back to where its shadow is just in the already-mowed section.

Good grief! From whence did you drag that John. There ain't many folks that have seen me working.

High temps over the weekend about 34 C (92-94 F) and a humidity that seemed near to match. No lawn mowing for me (heck, no lawn to mow, LOL)

Ed – Don’t know how you guys handle the heat. Here in Florida we expect it from mid June through mid September. Still now that I am getting older I don’t tolerate the heat as well as I did in my 20’s. When working on Sarah I try to get there early and then take a long lunch to cool off a bit and then work later in the day.

Growing up in Ohio we did not have air conditioning in the house or car, now I could not live with out it. Let something happen to the air conditioner and if I can’t fix it, I’ll buy a new one. Now if the lawn mower breaks, that can wait!!

Today at 5:00 p.m. it was 91 degrees, a thunder storm came through and in 10 minutes it was down to 73 degrees. Let this happen early in the day and you will have a steam bath for the rest of the day.

Got the last of the dead wood off Sarah yesterday and will start replacing floors tomorrow. Margo will probably post pic’s after we get a few installed.

You guys be sure and drink lots of water when out in the heat. Dehydration can sneak up on you real quick.

Margo...I look forward to your posts in the future, when you cruise to northern waters. The above-decks portion of my boat was 'winter-built' and nothing fits in this weather.

Ed, good to see the Status Check is back. Cool seasonable temps will return tomorrow and you can get back to Pheonix.

Understand we broke most old records for hot weather here in the Northeast. Twenty days over 90F this season. No rain for six weeks.

Came across it t'other day lurking in a folder I didn't know I had. It was in there with John Smiths crop circle and the S + S weekender with the cannon in the forepeak.
I must have saved it because of the armadillo.

Irregardless, Armidillo or other wise. The mystery man mowing the lawn should be thrown in jail! It almost looks as if he's mowing in......dare I even utter the words...........a.......... TILLEY!!!

Say it aint so!

That's what I wear when I mow the lawn; the other hats don't have room for the earmufflers.
