Wow, that's hot! lol. What I mean by that is when I look at that picture I can just imagine how hot it was on that river. Yesterday driving back from Montgomery it was a consistant 98-100 until we got down by the coast again.

The boat looks superb in that setting. I imagine that this little project of yours just keeps on giving in light of these photos. You must be pretty happy with the whole process. Have you found footbraces (or the crutch tip stick footrest) unnecessary?

I don't see any in the pics of you or Lauren. Just wondering - I thought it might be more comfortable with the footrest.

I hadn't devised a foot rest by launch, and I'm wondering now if it would make much difference. I haven't found that I need it for any reason... maybe my back would feel a little better. But the main mission (supposedly) is fishing, and the less I clutter the interior, the better it'll accomplish it's mission. I just keep using it as is for the time being.

Phil, - there are a few options for the footrest. One is a piece of dowel (large diameter to keep it comfy...) that has a piece of rope at either end tied to your seat. It’s adjustable by how much rope you use.

The other option would be to put a small piece of wood running fore and aft with a series of holes spaced about an inch apart. A foot-rest with a slot running through it that fits over the first piece of wood and a pin coming down through the middle of the slot would let you adjust it well. Don’t forget that you want the foot-rest to have slight angle on it (~15° or so) to make it comfortable.

Commercial foot rests are good (like for kayaks), but wouldn’t look right on that boat.

With the foot-rest you’ll get more work out of each stroke and your lower back will thank you after a long day. DAMHIKT :rolleyes:

Hope to get my granddaughter in mine soon. She's age 11. Never paddled any sort of craft but is a great swimmer, so I expect she will do OK. Next week I'll know.

That's the 4th or 5th caught by either me or my son. This morning I also tried it with a singe paddle... she handled great. Tracks straight as an arrow.

The day I took the photos of Lauren and her dog was her first time paddling anything. Took to it like a duck!!

Tried standing up once... I went swimming!:D Might try it again sometime when I don't have fishing gear on board. It wiggley!!:)
