I am getting the itch to see all of those great boats again, and always a few new ones amongst the amazing assortment of old timers. Even with three days and nights of visitiing, amongst old friends and new, I cant seem to take it all in.

One great event last year was the evening chanty singing sessions- a family style program that at any other time in my life would have seemed hokey. But it was really well done, with some leaders who really know their period music. A few tall ships crews came along to spice it up, filling the room with traditional songs that they had learned working on deck at sea all year.

Numerous on shore classes and workshops, demonstrations by a handfull of Port Townsend's own veteran wooden boat shipwrights, a myriad of products and services offered on display, and of course all of those awesome wooden boats. (The recently restored Schooner Martha will be present and welcoming visitors as well.:))

See you there!

They need to change the festival to July or Aug. I always love the festival, but it almost is a symbol of the end of summer.
