It appears that I will be replacing more or less all of the frames on the Blanchard (see http://www.woodenboat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=83214) and at least some planking. No surprise, what do you want for free? In a seperate project, I have been repairing and reframing part of my 80 year old garage. The same day I realized that I would soon be shopping for a bunch of white oak, I took down a wall to find some of the framing was in fact 80 year old white oak. So far I've found a sound 4 x 4, about 6 feet long, and a 2 x 6 x 8' (both actual dimensions, like they did in the good old days!)
I'm not posting from Ohio, or wherever the hell they used to build barns out of oak. This is an old beat up Seattle garage in an old beat up Seattle neighborhood.
Will it bend? Who knows! I bet it will laminate just fine if necessary. A lot of other framing appears to be nice clear WRC too. Hopefully the entire garage won't end up gradually disappearing, milled into smaller pieces and shoved into the gaping maw.

Hydrocarbons are soooo Clinton administration.
Hmmm. Back to the Blanchard. I bet that oak is pretty dry by now ... but what the hey, throw it in the steam box and see what happens.

Andy, I don't know how I missed your previous thread on the Blanchard. Looks like an interesting project. All the very best with it mate, I'm looking forward to seeing the updates in your blog.

Andy,
What makes you think you're the only guy with a bunch of boat parts in a garage? LOL!
What about some space in a SODO building with three phase power? If things turn out right, I might have some! PM me if you have any interest. It's a 50/50 thing right now.

Yeah, but I bought in when it was still an uninhabitable toxic waste dump sex offender theme park. It's still all that, but at least now you can get food after 6:00 besides gas station fried chicken!

With Jo-Jos?
If you promise not to tell anyone..... a certain close relation of mine is in charge of the "remodeling" of the old beer plant.
