I am looking to replace the Barlow 20's on my boat with something by, South Coast,or Merriman. The dimensions of the Barlows are; H= 41/2" top diameter =41/4" and the base diameter = app. 5". Actually, anything that works good, bronze, and old would be fine. Thanks, Richard

Good winches, but I believe South Coast and Merriman have long been out of business.

Both companies have been out of business for many years.

I think he's asking if anyone knows where he can find some old bronze winches.

I purchased a full complement of bronze self tailing winches from Barbarossa before they started putting the Harken name on them...I don't know if they sell them independantly now or not, but the Barbarossa label was a helluva lot cheaper than having Harken written on them. Other bronze winches currently available:
Taylor and Snediker,LLC, Pawcatuck, Ct 06379 (860-599-0800) has a variety of bronze winches by LVJ, Holland.

Thanks Chuck for the leads. but I would like to find some winches that match the existing hardware on my boat. Everything on my boat is either South Coast, or Merriman. I do like the LVJ winches though. I was [am] hoping that someone on the forum might have a pair that they would like to part with. They don't have to be the above mentioned. Any "good old bronze winches" will do. Richard

I think I have a pair of chromed bronze #16's in the warehouse that I had removed from another boat and replaced them with self tailing ones that I picked up overhauled
