My wife is always telling me that I can see a diamond in a pile of coal dust, as far as boats are concerned, and I do admit that I have quite a collection to show for my diamond-hunting.
Take a look at the ad for IRL231 at www.britishdragons.org/boatsale.htm. Then take a look at the photos. I love it.
And just to be honest about things, if I had the money, yeah, I'd love to bring another one back to life. Wouldn't mind keeping a boat in Vancouver or Cleveland so that I wouldn't have to haul USA149 cross country to go sailing.
You know, since you are already there, there are some pretty good deals on classic Dragons listed with the BDA right now. :)

Nice project

Two spars. A fine trailer. At a price of $2200 US that's not a bad deal.
How I wish that we could sell a few of these classic Dragons over here and get some 'classic' racing going on the eastern side of the Rockies. The boats are out there but too spread out to put any numbers together.
You know, when you look at that photo you can really see a lot of beauty there if you just know where to look.

Yes, Dragon. Did a double take to make sure she wasn't a Baby Dragon (Loch Long OD).
Mickey I wish you hadn't posted that - I need another boat like a hole in the head!

I thought of you when I saw this thread, and for not much more than the Albacore. You could cross on the Ulysses http://www.woodenboat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=86091

Now I've gone and had another look.
The C&N pedigree might say something about the original build quality; there again it might not. I had K6, Arabis, built by McGruers of Clynder, no less, and well - the less said the better.
But it might be Honduras mahogany...
The hull is lying fair, which is something.

Mickey, being serious, there's a "classic" boat in there that might be worth a second look at - the one in Ostende.
The Ostende Dragon fleet has been pretty consistent over my lifetime and Nunn Bros - just down the road from me in the next village - were outstanding, but little known, builders of racing boats - the only people apart from Uffa Fox to build International Canoes in the 1930's and to judge by their workmanship on Mirelle (old damage repairs) they were really good in the 1970's too.

Ernst Cancrinus has a very nice looking A&R Dragon for sale at a nice price. I am not sure why but there are several really nice wooden boats for sale right now. Or was it a P&T? Either way, a goodie.
A friend of mine in New York state wrote me the other day about perhaps bringing in a nice wooden boat from the UK (another P&T). They are such very nice looking boats.

But she would cost much, much more than the Albacore to restore!;)
