I am located in southern Maine and would like to start a wooden boaters night out at the pub (a real pub) maybe one night per month say at Gritty's or where ever.

Anyone interested please chime in with your thoughts. You all know its going to be another long winter...

Drink??? You can't be serious, don't you know you could get irregular doing stuff like that??

Sheesh.

I'll be there, just to supervise.

Do you plan to publish the time and location here for lurkers who may want to just show up or is this a invitation-only private party?

Yes, I can post time and place, certainly. Also, will take plenty of pictures and post them as well.

It helps, however, if I know people have an interest otherwise it may not come together.

Great idea. Novara Res, aka The Beer Garden is a new place and would be a very fitting atmosphere too.

I can speak for Steven, he'd be in too.

Sounds appealing. Could it be a Friday night, not weekends before or of holidays?

Are border-crossers welcome? I live in NH, work in ME (Scarborough).

gregleeber

Yes, all welcome.

please notify others you know in the area. I will post my wife's email shortly and everyone can email her and tell her it is important that I be allowed to go out that particular night.

My travel schedule will be picking up for the next couple of months, but if I'm around when everyone can get together... I'm in too. It will be good to see Steven and Clint again, and to meet more of you. Thanks for starting this.

Sounds good. But I'm temporarily living in California. Luckily, I think Thorne is organizing a left coast get-together out here.

how about Thursday the 6th of Nov.? But what time works best for everyone?

Rule # 1. No talking politics. Only BOATS !

We have two votes for The Beer Garden. I'm for a dark place with some fire somewhere, maybe a fireplace and fog outside... with fog horns blowing in the distance. Good beer is a must.

Oh, the wife said yes I can go. She is home from work as we had a baby girl six weeks ago, Logan Brooke Leeber. I wanted to name her Samuel Sturgis Crocker Leeber but Mumma said NO. She's gotten good at saying that. No huggy, no kissy, no *#$@

gregleeber, Congrats on the new baby girl!

I will be away all next week, N. Carolina, and then Boston through the weekend of the 8th & 9th.

Maybe next time. - Ron

Hey all,

I have a request from a friend who is a great guy and a new forumite. His name is Vinny and he once owned my Milky Way.

Because he lives in Oxford he has requested that we all meet in Auburn at the Gritty's. I think this is a reasonable request.

We can certainly do this on a Friday night as well.

How does this bode with everyone? Say a week from today? That would be Friday the 5th.

And still, lets please keep this a boating topic event. We can talk about anything else except politics as one way or another half of the group will be upset...

No way; I thought Moxie was a Maine beverage

The page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moxie says "The Catawissa Bottling Company (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catawissa_Bottling_Company) is one of the six bottlers in the United States producing Moxie. It is located in Catawissa, Pennsylvania (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Catawissa,_Pennsylvania), and has produced Moxie since 1945."

UNLESS someone has a real issue I think our booze night needs to be next Friday (Nov. 7th) at Gritty's in Auburn.

I know some of you wanted the Old Port but I think Auburn would be good as we can welcome a new member, Vinny and his wife Shawn. They are sure to be valuable members to the group.

Please let us know if you are up for it. I will call Gritty's and let them know.

Please respond that you are in or out.

Greg
I'm thinkin starting around 7 PM and ending tbd...

Auburn is out for me. If it were in Portland I would be combining the EBS with other errands there. "Two birds" and all.

Have a good time and welcome to Vinny and Shawn!

YES, this was a lot of fun. It was good to meet locals who are a part of this.

YES, once Milky Way gets into my barn I will host a get together there. I'll have heaters set up so no worries about that. And I have some connections at Geary's so I'll have a keg of Hampshire Special on tap...

I suspect it will be a week or two but I will start a new thread...
