Was blessed with 2 warm days (mid 50's-high 60's F) so I decided to bed a sterneye. Everything went well, 3m5200 stayed put on almost verticle transom and I thought I was in the clear. Today, 2 days after bedding the eye, the 3m5200 was still uncured, able to whipe it off with my fingertip on the glueline. I bought the slow cure stuff but is it really that slow curing?!

Temperature and moisture dependant. Total complete cure time this time of year will probably be a month or more.

As long as it eventually cures properly, I can wait the month, not planning on taking her out till next summer anyay. Thanks Ken.

Especially if you used a generous amount of solvent for cleanup around the fitting.

No, pipefitter, I had the area masked off and only used a white polishing cloth to clean up. Pulled the tape away and threw away the mess.

I might throw a heat blanket over it for a couple days before something smears it.

Hmmm good thinking, Bob. I'll see what I can find. The boat's covered tee-pee style with the for and aft 'V's open for airflow, will close it better when it gets colder. I won't be touching it and I can vouche for anyone around here touching it, save for the critters.
