Hi all. Thanks for the opportunity to tap into the experience of all you wooden boat builders. I have bought the plans for Ken Bassett's Rascal and now the fun begins.

I think it was the guy who bumped the barbie overboard.
Although he did put a new one in Grantulla a while ago I think.

Hi Martin - greetings and welcome! As you can see, there's a fair swag of Aussies here, great to have another on board.
I look forward to seeing your boat progressing. We love pictures!

Thanks to you all for the warm welcome. I have been browsing the site, admiring the craftmanship of those who have previously built the Rascal and other great boats. Amazing stuff. There is plenty of water around the North East of Victoria - Murray River, Lake Mulwala, Lake Buffalo, The Hume Weir (if it ever rains again). Otherwise I'll have to put wheels on it. It will be my first build apart from a kayak when I was a kid and I guess that's where the bug bit me. So, many questions to ask, lots to learn and looking forward to the whole process. I have looked at as many pics of previous builds as I can find but some of the pics don't appear to link to anything anymore. Anyway, with the help that's available here I reckon she'll be right. Thanks again. Marty.

A lot of the old links will be to a web host named Image Station that closed down.
Ruined a lot of threads I had posted.
Most of the people here are nice blokes and info is readily available.
Weclome Martin.
if it ever rains again
Supposed to be a wet one this season. Up here at least.

Just goes to show how you can get a song wrong all your life, I always thought it was: "the Wahili in-a-Wang.....Wangaratta.....":D

looking forward to watching the build progress (because you are going to post lots and lots of photos for us aren't you;):D).
P.S. though there are a few options, I recommend photobucket (http://photobucket.com/) for image hosting.
See ya round.

Hi Cato. Thanks mate, I would appreciate that. I have been looking at your build and I admire what you have done. She looks beautiful. I have started to cut and paste what photo's and build comments I can find here into some sort of reference I can use while building mine and the more construction photo's the better as I haven't attempted anything like this before. I intend to get hold of the video and do a lot of reading so your generous offer is more than welcome. I am almost to the point where I am going to start work on the frames but I am not sure what timber to use. I was about to post a thread about it in the proper forum when I saw your reply. Anyway, thanks again, let me know how you'd prefer to send the pics. You're too far away for me to buy you a beer but cheers anyway! Marty.

No problems mate. I did the same thing when i started building to. Used a lot of speedboy's pictures and olriksen's It's a lot more easy when you have some pictures to go by:) If you send me a pm with your address i will send you a DVD with all the pictures. As it's 1,5GB I think that's the easyest way to do it.
And don't hestitate to send a mail if there is someting your wodering about.
