Hours of winter dreaming here....

Select a region on that page, then select your desired chart on the next. When the chart page comes up, click on the chart image toward the bottom of the page and a neat viewer opens. On a Mac you can navigate with arrow keys for panning and the 'a' and 'z' keys to zoom. No habla PC...

Over the (very chilly) weekend I went to a charity sports equipment sale at the local YMCA. For ten bucks I got one of those Maptech large format chart books that covers Block Island to Passamaquoddy Bay. I spent the early afternoon poring over the aerial photos of harbors and islands, the large and small scale charts and accompanying insets.

I was warmed by wonderful memories they brought back and excited by dreams of new places to visit each instilled. It was all I could do to not start measuring off new courses.

The leaves needed raking before dark.

Looks like the same viewer. Makes sense since Oceangrafix is NOAA's partner (they provide the print-on-demand service for NOAA). But it's been a while since I've been on the NOAA site and while I was there, I noticed this new product (listed as 'experimental')

designed to be printed by the user and current to the latest NM and LNM... Not sure how I feel about the format but I'm gonna print one out and take it for a test drive. Anyhow, thanks for getting me back there for a look...
