Her are some photos of a sailboat that belongs to a freind of mine. He got her about 10 years ago from Maine. We have no idea what she is. Today we were putting a new cover on her as the old one was shot, so a had a change to take these.

She is about 17 ft. long with a beam of 6 ft., draft about 3 ft., cedar on oak, bronze fastened with cast iron ballast. Sge has a small cabin with berths for two.

It's darn close to a Herreshoff doughdish with a small cuddy added. Whatever you have there, looks like it has the potential to be a really sweet boat.

Looks a lot like a Herreshoff 12 1/2 aka Haven 12 1/2 http://www.msogphotosite.com/Shackled.html 12 1/2 has nothing to do with the loa.

The stem and the transom are much less raked than those of the H12.

Peter, I agree she has the lines of a 12 1/2 and when I first saw her that is what I thought she might be. Only problem she is about 2 ft. lomger than a 12 1/2

L. Francis Herreshoff designed a boat known as the Buzzards Bay 14, basically an enlargement of his father's 12-1/2 footer. The size difference is about what you describe: the BB 14 is 14'1" on the waterline, and 17'9" overall.

i don't know what it is, but i would look at murray peterson or aage nielsen.
she actually looks a lot like nielsen's "suppoda" albeit a few feet shorter.
