I'm looking for a 33'-37' classic (wooden) sailboat, sloop rig, that performs (relatively) well. Maybe something raced to the old CCA rule? Lot's of overhangs, etc. At this point, I'm looking for the names of makes/designs I should be searching for.

If it were glass, it might be something similar to the 1960's Chris Craft Apache or Commanche sailboats.

I sail in Lake Michigan.

Thanks in advance!
Dan

I've long thought that the old wood Hinckley's filled this bill pretty well, and seem to sell at reasonable prices for what they are. Here's a Souwester 34 listed for $34,000, which was just the first hit I got on a quick web search. They don't get the press they used to, but aren't they more than a decent boat worth keeping? (An if this boat is still available, I'll bet it would go for much less.)

That's what I'm looking for, thanks! I know Sparkman and Stephens had some good models of that genre', but I'm not sure what they are.
