I'm not sending anything to anybody who won't even fill out his profile.

I can understand not sending your address, phone number, password and secret decoder ring code to a complete stranger, but why so paranoid about sending a picture? Scared he'll publish it under your name and set you up for a copyright infringement lawsuit?

Best picture of my boat is in Benjamin Mendlowitz first Book of Wooden Boats, p30 & 31. I've never been able to get as nice a pic. :(

How about a pic of the boat? I am just south of you in Hartland, where do you sail?

I'm a bit paranoid about spam and giving my email address away sets me up for that. No offense intended but there are bad people on the internet and one does need to keep that in mind.

Plus I don't have beautiful pictures of my boat, I have them of other people's boats, taken from mine.

I am not the boogerman, don't know what I could do with anyone's email address. But you could send it anonymous, or through the forum, or put a link in a post. It does not have to be your boat.

I think this is very simple.

Can anyone out there just send a pretty sailboat picture??

1. Click the "User CP" link in the browser window in the top left of the
menu bar.

2. On the upper left column, select "Edit your details" and fill out the basic info.

As mentioned above, most of us just post links to the images hosted somewhere on the web == saves email exposure, attachment limits, etc.

Here's how to post photos on this forum:

First - don't attach photos. Most web forums don't allow it, and space
limitations are the main reason why.

Second - Instead of attaching them to a thread, post the pics on the web
somewhere. You have a free website area with any paid ISP's email account,
or use www.picturetrail.com or other free hosting service. Once posted on
the web, right-click the image to copy the URL (web address). Always test
first by pasting the image URL into the window of a web browser and see if
the image displays.

Remember, the IMAGE URL will end in .jpg, not .htm or html. URLs ending in .htm are the page that the image is at, not the image location itself. If the image URL ends in other code, try deleting everything after the "xxxxxx.jpg" part of the URL to get it to display on web forums.

Third - once posted on the web, try this procedure while logged in to this
Forum:

1. Click the "User CP" link in the browser window in the top left of the
menu bar.
2. Click the "Edit Options" link about 1/4 of the way down the left column.
3. In the "Misc Options" at the bottom of the next page, select "Enhanced
Interface" from the pulldown list.
4. Once this interface has been selected, in any "Reply" window you can
click the "insert photo" icon --> a little yellow square icon with the stamp
in the upper right corner, the mountains in the lower center.
5. Once the little dialog box titled "Please enter the URL of your image"
comes up, paste the URL of the photo in the field.

If unsure of the procedure, test first by pasting the image URL into the
window of a web browser.

Makes more sense to post the photos on the thread than to send them to you.

There is a lot of interest in Politics on this forum, very few wooden boat posts. This was the only sailboat picture sent.

Although nice double ender, I doubt the one pictured above is 35'

Patience, Bud. Stick around for more than a week and you'll see plenty of nice boat photos. Or do a search for boats/designs you might be interested in. There are a lot that have been posted on the Forum in the category you mentioned.

But time's up on your three day contest!! Who won and what does he/she get?

Beware clicking on pefjr (post #10) I just get a wierd security message.

It's only a security certificate notification, nothing too clandestine to worry a lot about. The redirection is a worry though.

(1) The server's name "shop.brayprints.com" does not match the certificate's name "u15272872.onlinehome-server.com". Somebody may be trying to eavesdrop on you.
(2) The certificate for "u15272872.onlinehome-server.com" is signed by the unknown Certificate Authority "u15272872.onlinehome-server.com". It is not possible to verify that this is a valid certificate.
(3) The certificate for "u15272872.onlinehome-server.com" expired 25/11/2007 9:07:12 PM GMT. The webmaster should update the certificate(s).
