Really, really wet. Pulled mine off the bottom of the Napa River a couple of years ago -- it was being used as ballast and some "helpful" person shortened the dock lines so the small boat ended hanging upside down above the water.

Takes awhile to get all the rust off, though...

ah well stuff happens. I'd get some wd40 or crc into that firing pin after a fresh water wash out.
and then fire one off just to check.:D

It seems that you and Sarah are having a rough week. Sometimes the frustrations of sailing, and boat ownership seem too much.
They are not.
Look at some pictures of joyful sails, reread the log. There will be many more good days. Fair winds.
