She built this boat last Spring - her first boat building endeavor. I mostly supervised (perfect!). Then she made a video, which I just now remembered. Her kayak is a non-traditional, wood framed, non-folding, nylon skinned Tom Yost designed Sea Otter, complete building instructions for which can be found at www.yostwerks.com (http://www.yostwerks.com)
The boat paddles good. Doesn't seem to weathercock. Relatively roomy. Rolls OK (needs some thigh bracing). Very lightweight. Took 3-4 weeks to finish, for about $150 in materials.
Anyway, it's an amusing 3 minute video that shows most of the steps involved in building a non-traditional SOF kayak. The other frame in the video is one I was building simultaneously - a Yost Sea Rider, which I lovelovelove (for two hours, max, as there is hardly any wiggle room for the legs).
