I have a glass-wood-glass transom on the old boat I am restoring, and the garboard drain assembly was not installed propely and needs replacing. A hole was simply drilled through the glass-wood-glass transom, exposing the wood to bilge water. I am replacing the garboard assembly, but what attaches to the inboard end of it going through the glass-wood-glass transom, and how doe it attach and become water-tight? A 1/2-NPT pipe nipple, a flexible hose, a PVC pipe...or what? The whole garboard drain assembly cavity in the transom will be filled with epoxy when I finish. Thanks.

I'm not sure what a garboard drain is but the usual plug and drain in a transom has a brass tube epoxied in the transom for the plug to seal inside of. The brass tube has a flange rolled into one end like a tailpiece extension under a house sink. In fact you could use a tailpiece extension with the proper size plug since they are chrome plated brass. Try any hardware store.
